DataPlace is a website which provides tools to visualize and navigate large datasets. It offers fine-grained capabilities to view data across any locale in the US. The sources of the data range from governmental organizations such as the US Census Bureau and the IRS, to user uploaded content.
   
     
 
Charts
The DataPlace chart tool is a powerful mechanism to view data in a highly customized way. These capabilities provide the user with dynamic controls to gain insights about their data, compare multiple locations and indicators, modify the size, colors and style of the display, etc. The output can then be saved and posted to groups, blogs, and websites.
 
       
   
Maps
The DataPlace mapping capabilities provide another powerful way to compare places and variables. Two places can be panned and zoomed together in a dynamic side by side comparison. Thousands of other locations and variables are available at the click of the mouse.
 
       
 
Rankings
The DataPlace rankings tool displays data in a table format with a variety of filtering capabilities. This view lets users see how a particular location is ranked in comparison to other places across several indicators. A histogram shows an overview of the content of the table.
